When you stop and think about the innumerable ways federal employees work to improve the quality of life in America, it is hard to comprehend why they have recently been the target of harmful attacks.
Among other damaging proposals, political pundits and some members of Congress have called for cuts to the federal workforce. These cuts not only impact federal employees, but they pose serious — and unacceptable — consequences for the American public. Slashing agency funding or the number of federal workers would mean fewer food safety inspections, less secure borders, threats to the security of our savings and investments, and diminished services for veterans, the elderly and the disabled.
But NTEU is fighting back. We are proud to represent the men and women who serve our country, and we are committed to changing the discourse about federal employees.

The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) protects the security of U.S. financial systems by overseeing credit union safety and soundness. Administered though five regional offices, NCUA insures the deposits of more than 90 million account holders.
--Credit Union Examiners conduct comprehensive examinations of federally chartered and insured credit unions. Prior to every examination, NCUA examiners must analyze credit union data to identify which areas to concentrate on and persistent problems the institution might be experiencing.
--NCUA has a website (www.mycreditunion.gov) for consumers to find a credit union and learn about consumer privacy, fraud and other important topics.
--As of March 2011, there were 7,292 federally insured credit unions with over 90 million members, total assets of $939.28 billion and net loans of $550.8 billion.
